Looks like a nice, nearly problem free coin. A bit too much wear on the high spots for an AU-50 so I'm calling it an EF-45.

I'd call it EF-40; looks nice!
(I see from the code on the label it was actually given an XF-45; I'd be more comfortable calling it a 40 however. You need to cover that code if you want to conceal the PCGS grade).

I'd say it's a heck of a lot nicer than my flying eagle! I think EF-45 is fair.

I thought the wear was minimal since so many feathers were crisp and virtually perfect. AU-55 is my guess. I did not consult a book on this, either. I thought I was rather conservative...

IMO...

This coin shouldn't be over a 45, possibly a 40. I think the coin has been cleaned, or put in acetone. Looks way too clean for the amount of wear it has.

Coin could be a split grade, there is too much wear on the eagle's breast and neck for AU.

And I don't like what I see in the fields. Almost as if someone tried to scrub it.

AU-55, cleaned (if it WAS cleaned, hard to tell from photo..although I think it was not whizzed or scrubbed, maybe dipped, professionally)
Ok, time for me to read the Red Book and try again to make my case:
I still stand by AU-55 for condition. In the Red Book, 2012 edition (65th) page 109:

EF-40 Slight wear, all details sharp
AU-50 Slight wear on eagle's left wing and breast

Ok, so the only wear that is apparent to me is on the left wing and breast...and that wear is so very slight, it is AU...and in my opinion halfway between AU and MS-60, hence AU-55.

The photo is not crystal-clear , granted, but still, I can count almost every single feather on the wing and breast except for...(softly to self..."one, two , three...") about 5...perhaps I am interpreting wear as being "wiped out" instead of "lightly worn"?

On Page 9 AU 50 is described as "Traces of light wear on on MANY of the high points. At least half of mint luster is still present "(re:luster, hard or impossible to tell from the photo...I think it is still partly lustrous).3

Right wing tip is razor sharp, rt. wing and tail are nearly perfect...

Perhaps I just want it to be a higher grade because it is rare? Still, I think I am being objective here...

This is a strange looking coin, the back looks like it has luster from the photo, but the front looks sort of worn.
