AU-55, cleaned (if it WAS cleaned, hard to tell from photo..although I think it was not whizzed or scrubbed, maybe dipped, professionally)
Ok, time for me to read the
Red Book and try again to make my case:
I still stand by AU-55 for condition. In the
Red Book, 2012 edition (65th) page 109:
EF-40 Slight wear, all details sharp
AU-50 Slight wear on eagle's left wing and breast
Ok, so the only wear that is apparent to me is on the left wing and breast...and that wear is so very slight, it is AU...and in my opinion halfway between AU and MS-60, hence AU-55.
The photo is not crystal-clear , granted, but still, I can count almost every single feather on the wing and breast except for...(softly to self..."one, two , three...") about 5...perhaps I am interpreting wear as being "wiped out" instead of "lightly worn"?
On Page 9 AU 50 is described as "Traces of light wear on on MANY of the high points. At least half of mint luster is still present "(re:luster, hard or impossible to tell from the photo...I think it is still partly lustrous).3
Right wing tip is razor sharp, rt. wing and tail are nearly perfect...
Perhaps I just want it to be a higher grade because it is rare? Still, I think I am being objective here...
