Is it as dark in hand as the photos depict? Can't see many detracting marks, at least nothing that catches my eye and shouts out, looks relatively clean, nice strike, how is the luster? MS 64 for now Nice looking 83 O vermont

Nice strike for a New Orleans. I'm going to say MS63 if it's an old holder and MS64 if it's a newer one.

Good strike, smooth cheek, and very few marks says MS-65 to me. Luster seems weak in the photos which might hurt a bit. I could see 64 if luster is not full.

I agree with the others, MS-64 but could be a 65.

southsav, not as dark. Little more "white" than the photos.

I am fairly conservative on grading, especially with a coin series where I have very little experience, ie: the Morgan dollar series. I will go MS62 or MS63. Nice coin though!

This would more than likely get a 63 or 64 today.

Wow, didn't see that one coming. I take it you feel it is undergraded instead of a slider? Reminds me of my 1902 s
