I'm not convinced but thought I'd throw it out there. The legs of the nines don't seem quite wide enough. May be flattening. Markers are slim out there.

Either way, 5 peppers for Tom for pointing it out.

The NINES look like there is doubling. IMHO, all of the numbers/letters are definitely wider than normal. Do you have a standard 1909 & LIBERTY pics you can post?

Interesting coin.

The R in Liberty, definitely looks like the marker is in the center of the R....and a little verdigris too. :)

Yeah a little crusty

How about that die dot above the nine?

All I have is coppercoins for the #2. Any other sources?

I have one other VDB and it's very slim lettering in comparison.

I looked in the CherryPickers Guide - volume 5 (newest addition).

DDO 2 does have doubling, that is every so slightly present. Believe you have a #2.

The Motto WE TR is pictured on coppercoins. You might compare with your example. It seems stronger on these devices:

A soaking in mineral oil might clean the devices up a bit. But I question that this is 002. But take a look at the WE TR on motto. That might be the clincher.
The areas showing the spread on the date are about 4:00 on the Loops of the 9's and the 0 in the date.

Yeah, 4:00 was what seemed thin. I will shoot the WE TR and post. Thanks for the comments.

Not the same doubling as 002 The bottom of the T on the 002 is rounded.
The "R" is also different. as 002. Always goof to learn more looking at coins. Nothing lost.

Not the same doubling

Without regard to #1 or #2 is this doubled or flattened?
Something must account for the width (besides aliens of course)

PS I agree on the goof thing :)

I feel circulation has spread the devices some. But a nice learning thread.

The coin in this thread is not a doubled die.
