Definitely don't dump where you eat. I used to buy bags at one bank, from their count machine. Worked pretty well. Now they want a fee per roll times however many rolls are in the bag. So It's not worth the price per bag to get them when others will order them for free. So the place I used to eat is now a new place to leave the rejects behind.

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm really enjoying this. I grabbed a couple rolls of dimes today while depositing the 1800 pennies I wrapped last night from my son's piggy bank (finally finished and his bank is empty) but came up with nada. However, I got a bunch of pennies from one of my co-workers and found a bunch of coppers plus a 1956 wheatie. Also a couple key dates, but I won't be able to tell if they're errors or not until I get my loupe (hopefully this weekend).

I found a cpl boxes at 2 different banks today. I've only gone through 15 rolls so far in my box and found 37 Wheaties and 13 Canadians. Wife has gone through half of her box and only 2 wheats and a few Canucks. A 1919 is my oldest but a 1951 I found is gorgeous and it's definitely going in our album when it gets here in a couple days. My wife and I decided to try and fill a wheat album together. It's been fun going through pennies together. She's a freak for cams and wams....69-s and 72-p.

I picked up the $130 worth of halves that my branch had left. In the very last roll I searched, I found a 1968-D :) And then I found a $20 bill in the parking lot after dinner. So all in all, I'd say it was a good day :D

YOu know everyone says you dont dump where you eat and I always follw this rule. I have been off of work so I have too much time to kill. I have been picking up 40 rolls a day, rotating through the 3 banks that I have selected. Today I went to a bank that I have been doing well at and got *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. *** out by the teller! She pretty much made a scene about it! AHHH soooo mad ! She said that she didnt have that many and I said thats fine, what can you give me? She says I will only give you 10 rolls and that they were so low and that her business customers pay for the rolls and that they have to be able to give them rolls and then said I've seen you in here picking up coins, where do you take them. I told her to another branch because the tellers dont like having to dish them out and have to take them back and so on and so forth and she gave me that I dont bring them back to them so they dont have to order more.... I get it, but she was sooo loud and very rude! Meanwhile, there is a teller beside her that I had delt with the week before and the manager. I asked them if it was ok that I pick up rolls here and they had no problem with it. I told the teller that I had inquired about all of this and that I have been just doing what the teller have told me and that I was trying to be very polite and respectfull to everyone and she turns around and tells me well the mangaer is wrong and I'm going to tell her that. I'm so discouraged right now. I'm so uncomfortable to get there now, and there is another branch that the more I go in the more LOOKS I get. Thats 2 out of my 3 pick up banks that I'm uncomfortable going to now, and 1 of my dump banks is giving me looks now too. I dunno what to do now. Is it the volume in which I am picking up that are sending off the bad vibes? Should I just start calling my banks ahead of time and get them to put a box together for me instead? Even 1 of my other dump banks I seem to have an issue with. I picked up rolls from them once and I got bad looks all around and so I went back 2 weeks later to dump instead and got looks of disaprovment again...its like I cant pick up or dump there either. So upset and frusterated. I've been doing so well and now I'm hitting a road block. :-(

My volume is not nearly that of yours so that may be an issue. The area I live in is about 200,000+ people. The bank I use has the only coin counting machine at a bank. I typically buy a $200 bag of nickels around pay day and a $50 bag of pennies when my wife's retirement check comes in. In between, I get rolls of nickels when done with the bags. They are fine with me returning the coins and running through the coin machine. Basically, I get my coins where I dump and they have no problems. This by the way is the only bank I have any luck with rolled coins. I've yet to find a keeper from any of the other banks I use to pick up 2 - 5 rolls from when I am on the prowl. The only thing they ask is that when I'm getting rolled coins either I limit the number of rolls or bring in rolled replacement coins and they provide the wrappers.

I was just in a car accident and opened an account at Navy Federal CU for an auto loan. Do they have coin dump machines there? that would be awesome and would give me more options to dump. By the way I live close to you. I'm in east county san diego. I go to the NFCU in Santee.

<------ not currently a roll searcher. Seeing discussions about "Eating where you dump...": I can understand having separate banks for buying and selling coins. What is the likelihood that your "Eating" where someone else dumped their coins? You all may be searching through the same boxes of coins.

I have always wondered myself about that Fuzzy, but my main pick up bank, the relationship I have with them awesome. They've told me when someone else has come in an asked for nickels, which is ok because I don't do nickels. I appreciated them gving me the heads up though.

You are searching through someone's dumps regardless of where you pick up. Samsnate, you may be wearing out your welcome...much better to place an order for volume. Perhaps order a box or two, which is what I do. I also will make the rounds no more than once every two weeks to score cwr's. I go through approx $30,000 worth a year, and that's enough for me because of the dumping hassles. I know that some are ordering $25,000 and up a week in halves, for instance, they will be the ones to ruin it for the rest of us.

murrellington - The one in Mission Valley has one, but apparently it's broken quite often. Both my dump branch and pick up branch suggested the one in Escondido because it's got less traffic.

Thanks, I looked it up on yelp and saw that most people said the mission valley one is always broken. Bummer, that location is fairly close to where I live. Escondido would be a bit of a drive just to dump. I dump at Pacific Trust Bank. They have a few locations such as Clairmont, La Jolla, Rancho Bernardo, San Marcos, Temecula, Riverside... If any of those are close to you. They have been real good to me. Free counter for members.
