1972 Doubled Die Obverse / DDO Found - Is It #4 Or #7?

copper nickel daddy Pillar of the Community United States 2224 Posts	Posted 03/12/2012 9:47 pm Pulled this from a roll earlier today. Obviously one of the minor Doubled Dies for this date, with the doubling shifted to the west. I'm pretty sure it's #7, but the die markers on the reverse nor the small die gash on the shoulder that are supposed to be evident on #7 show on this coin. Might I have a #4? Coppercoins.com will have the pictures of the markers you are looking for. The die markers are located around the "UN" of "UNITED" Report this Post to the Staff

I was so thrilled to think that I had a chance at one that when I originally looked at coppercoins.com I didn't look at enough photos of #4 to look for the markers that JoeyZ76 pointed out above. None of them are present, so it is obviously a #7. The search goes on! Report this Post to the Staff

I've looked through over a thousand 1972 cents I've found in circulation and never found a single one of any of the DDOs listed. Report this Post to the Staff
