Compare the color on this 1934A note, also DGS by serial number, same district and also a star.  Edited by Coinfrog

On the color scale, they have nothing in common outside of being basically green.

Bought a nice lot of raw notes recently and thought I would show some of them before sending them off to PMG. This numerical $20 appears flawless to me under backlight and has good margins on both sides. Common note, but most attractive for the price.  Edited by Coinfrog

Here is another raw note headed to PMG. A '50-A $20 San Francisco star, less than common, with great paper and no signs of handling in any way. This note was printed then I was just a little kid.  Edited by Coinfrog

Nice note. Are those bumps on the top corners or just a product of being in the holder?

Good eye, see what you mean. No, the note itself is perfect and sharp on all corners. On the left side top, the edge is just touching the holder's vertical seam, which may be creating a tiny dark area in the pic. On the right side, some sort of shadow effect.

Don't want to hog the thread, but since there's not much going on, I'll keep showing pickups from a recent large purchase before submitting them, if that's okay. Couple of nice $20 FRBNs with great paper and no apparent problems. A fairly easy set to complete except for the killer Dallas note.   |

I will always keep it because it was my dad's but there is some mystery behind it... My sister-in-law actually found it after my dad had passed. It was in an envelope that was mixed in with paperwork and letters that were in his closet. No idea when/where he got it or why he hung on to it. He was a numismatist his whole life but never really expressed any interest in paper money. Anyway, Sorry it to me so long to say thanks. I was kinda waiting til I had something nice to post but haven't had much luck lately. There has been some really nice stuff posted since my last post! That's some nice stuff you picked up recently Coinfrog. Hope you let us all know how it grades out. Here is my latest addition. Got this from the bank this afternoon. I know it's nothing special but the price was right!   |

Flick, nice $50, especially from a bank. Unfortunately my local bank tellers have been told to pull all the "old" bills for return to the Fed.

Thanks techwriter. I think the tellers at my bank are in the process of doing the same. Whenever I ask if they have anything they always pull a stack of various notes out of their drawer and any older ones are in there with what look to be very worn and beat up notes. So I'm guessing these notes are being pulled to go back to the fed but they can give them out if customers request them.
