Hey guys I am new to collecting coins and want to get some input on my first purchase. I am thinking about purchasing this Statehood Quarter collection I found on Amazon but do not know if it is worth collecting. Any input would be appreciated.

I wouldn't buy it unless I could get it for under $50 & then I'd sell it on ebay. I would advise against getting it, but if you really have to have it buy it on ebay where it's a lot cheaper.

Hi treasureshop. Welcome to CCF. I bought a complete set just like that one from a coin dealer. I paid much less than $50.00 for it just because the dealer had very little interest in the State Quarters. I think the set is really nice, but I wouldn't over pay for it.

Congratulations treasureshop!

You win the first annual CCF Darwin Award!

Do you REALLY think that the Staff here is SO stupid that we don't know that's YOUR item for sale?

A little hint for our lucky winner....

When you want to play us for fools, don't register with an email from the domain of the seller you're trying to convince isn't you.

Now here's your prize, I now go to a forum I hang out on that's nothing but forum owners and tell them all about you! Isn't that special? You'll be on THOUSANDS of blacklists by tomorrow.

I now eagerly wait for you to try and deny it....

, treasureshop!

PNC is an area which never gained any momentum (even gubmint issues). You're looking at $25 in coins and $374 in fancy packaging.

I suspect the original buyer took a substantial beating.

That stuff I normally see it sell locally for a slight premium over face value. I think I picked up a binder with a bunch of the states in it had 30 of them - so $15 face - for about $18. They are great at face value or what you'd pay for the coins otherwise, but they are never worth what the tv hucksters want for them.

Or the $19.95 the gubmint charges.
