All I have are pictures at the moment. I want to be able to examine the coins in person too. Get their weights and see if the dimensions match. What else should I look for?

Here are the pics:

1802 obverse: http://www.flickr.com/photos/317174.../6787747264/
1802 reverse: http://www.flickr.com/photos/317174...photostream/
goloid pattern obverse: http://www.flickr.com/photos/317174...photostream/
goloid pattern reverse: http://www.flickr.com/photos/317174...photostream/

Any ideas? Their condition seems to good to be true tbh which has me thinking they're fake. Plus, I'd expect at least some toning for a coin of that age and there isn't any. If their weight and dimensions all check out the next course of action would be to submit them to ANACS for grading / certification if they pass my own tests.

The RIB on the reverse look off, the L in LIBERTY on the obverse doesn't have the serif and the eye's just don't seem to match up either. The 2 in the 1802 also doesn't look right. Of course, the 1802 silver dollar does have multiple varieties so maybe it's just a different variety than is shown in the above pic?

Both coins are common Chinese Fakes. Don't waste your time or money on them.

that Obverse design is definitely not like the originals Obverse. I have never seen a real goloid 1802 Dollar but if the design is anything like the original 1802 Bust dollar then this is definitely not real

I guess I should have looked at all of the pictures before I responded, I now see the 1802 is not the goloid coin its the 1879 and now that I have seen all pictures I can tell you with 100% certainty that both coins are fakes

As already everybody has said, it's a fake, sorry.

Here's what a genuine one looks like:

This is still an option. Let us know more about the fake peddler.
I'd like to know how much she wants to rip you off for sell them for. People like this need to be exposed but don't accuse them, just tell us who to watch out for is offering these.

If you compare to another genuine (albeit, lower grade) specimen, you can see that the hair near the forehead is quite different.

It's just a friend. They don't know anything about coins (as evidenced by the way they're holding the coins) and are inquiring on their boyfriends fathers behalf.

They're the kind-of person who'd see a 2012 $50 Gold Buffalo Tribute Proof (https://www.2012fiftydollarbuffalo.com/) from the National Collectors Mint for sale for $9.95 and snatch it up, thinking it's a great bargain, as a gift for someone who collects coins. It's all very well intentioned but I'd hate to be stuck with a coin like that lol. Numismatically worthless, I still wouldn't want to throw it away because it was a gift.

Well there are some of us who collect fakes and as a counterfeit collector myself, looking at the strike I'd say that those are worth about $1-2 a piece. If they both have the correct weight and are non-magnetic, they'd be worth more (maybe $3-5 a piece).

Again, those are the prices a counterfeit collector would pay. A numismatist with no interest in counterfeits would only consider a price in pennies. :-)

Yes, Which one are you calling which?

The counterfeit with that grumpy countenance and matted hair looks like Liberty just got out of bed. The real one looks like she has had her coffee, is wide awake and has gotten her hair done ready to face the day.
