Probably about a quarter to a third of my collection comes from ebay. I have a nice coin shop by me and I check out their selection often. I usually go to ebay when, a. I am looking for something specific, or b. when I am trying to get something cheap. It all depends because sometimes I see something I want when I am browing ebay. I win probably around 10% to 20% of what I bid on and I do not get caught up in the whole bidding wars stuff.

95% of my coins are purchased on ebay, with no issues/returns. I limit myself to NGC and PCGS, and nothing too expensive. I recently tried collectors corner for some items I had bid on and failed on ebay for months. Worked out OK, but there were no pics and the communication handoff from the site to the actual dealer selling the items can be awkward. I prefer ebay...

I have only bought a couple of coins on ebay, mostly ones I can't find anywhere else like my 1876 20 cent. I suspect this will change a bit though since my new living location has nothing in the way of coin shops or shows.

I have bought a lot from ebay, mainly because of selection and ease.
Nothing beats browsing on your computer, paying with paypal and letting the coin come to you.

It is getting more difficult to find good stuff through all the garbage though. Maybe I'm maturing?

Good 75% of my collection is bought on ebay.

The reason is that the coins I collect (8 Reales) are hard to come by in my neck of the woods and the few that pop up are outrageously priced.

I will add that when it comes to bullion including ASE's, I do buy all of them locally.

Over 50%, but it will probably increase because when you factor in the price of gas going to a coin show that is over 1 hr. away it becomes more practical and cheaper to buy on ebay.

I buy occasionally from ebay. When I find a seller I really like, though, I usually go on a long streak of buying just from him/her on ebay. And build a relationship while I'm at it, so we both know what I'm looking for. That works very well for me, and I ended up building up good sized orders to save on postage.

I have one main coin store I go to. Good atmosphere, dealer and the price is good. I also like to look at my coins up close before I decide on it.

I use ebay mostly to buy fills and proofs for my collections. I have all my pennies and nickels in P-S-D order in my binders and there are a lot of empty S spots that I can't fill through roll searching.

I also buy slabs and the occasional "guilty coin" that I really shouldn't buy but just have to have. I am 30 minutes from the nearest dealer, and while he's a nice guy, his prices are just a tad on the high side. During the summer there are a couple of dealers at the Shipshewana flea market that I go to about once a week. One to buy flips from and the other just to shoot the breeze and pick up the occasional coin and my yearly Red Book.

I've spent most of the past year catching up on more modern issues, proofs and such. This being the case, ebay has served me well. I'd be much more reluctant to buy a true high-dollar item on there, though.

I haven't bought a coin from ebay in over a year. All of my ebay purchases have been "must-have" coins I have never seen for sale from local dealers or coin shows.

I've been on ebay since 2002. My feedback score is 42.

About 30% my coins are from ebay. I specialize in Mexico and know most the dealers and go to them when I'm looking for something. If they are selling on ebay, I'll call.

I use ebay for my collection from time to time. I collect world coins and once in a while I can find countries I do not have at my local coin shop, but I can always find coins from countries I do not have on ebay.
