For those of us who buy and/or sell coins, do you rent a postal mail box rather than having the coins or payments sent to your home?
Just wondering.

Personally, I do. I have too many coins coming through the mail to risk the mailman or my neighbor's kids getting a five finger discount at my physical address mailbox.

I have everything shipped to my office. That's where I am when the mail comes, so I can sign for them. Plus I get to open the package right away.

I either have them go to the office I work at if UPS or FedEx, for everything else USPS, I have always kept a PO Box - going on close to 30 years now. After getting my home burglared and loosing $50k in inventory makes one a bit paranoid about anything coin related in my mail.
I also take all my coin junk (old magazines scraps, and ripped 2x2 holders to a public trash can, Starbucks or work, and nothing with my name or address on it.

Absolutely a PO Box. Not only the mailman would know, but if yours misdelivers like it seems to happen here all the time then your neighbors get your coins or at least know that you collect. Nothing like putting a bullseye on your home. The same applies to coin publications. The $29 fee for the PO Box every 6 months is well worth it. I do this 100% of the time as well. I try to cover all the bases. Call me paranoid but I would rather be safe than sorry.

So true, so true. I USED to get coin magazines at home but way to many times the mail people would just put them in the box with most of it sticking out. And too, everyone should remember that just because a person is a postal person, that doesn't mean they are free from crime. Missdelivered mail with the wrong type of info on it too could be a source for a crime. Great saying, better to be safe than sorry.

Quote: Even worse. This to many means you have guns in the house. Yep it might deter some but guns = cash value so that will let them know you have even more items of value in the home. They come for the guns and find your coins at the same time. Jackpot for the thieves. I'd prefer to keep a lower profile personally. When I used to coin roll search, I even through away the box and wrappers at an off-site location lol.

all my coins go to a p.o. box. Its worth the rental every 6 to 12 month. also, if I am gone for a day or two I dont have to worry about the coins outside on the street.
