I was trying to cherry pick a 1943/2 Jefferson from a 100 coin lot of War Nickels that I just bought. No luck on the 1943/2 but I did find what seems to be an interesting doubling on one coin where the 4 in the date is strongly doubled. Does anyone know if this is a known error? Is it worth any more than silver content?
Thanks for any help.

A flag goes up for me to mention that the 4 on doubled eye 1943 P nickels and the lettering on Liberty is doubled. I would say that in circulated examples like yours the 4 still appears doubled while the other details get lost.

You don't show the whole coin obverse. Be sure to look for 1943 P doubled "eye" nickels which are actually tripled dies.

Here are a couple better images than I have of mine to show the coin I am talking about. Both varieties are great to find.

Thanks for your help. I looked couldn't detect even the slightest amount of doubling on the eye or anywhere else on the obverse. Like you suggested though, the coin may have too much wear to show those details.

Well the doubled eye would be fairly obvious if you had one of those. Glad you didn't look too hard and start imagining things that might be a doubled eye. Once you find one you know what you have. It is one of those coins you leaves little doubt although sometimes dirt gets in that area and hides it.
Just wanted to point out another thing to look for if you are looking at a lot of 1943 P nickels.
