So I got this set for a bargain imo. I payed for the coins, not the encasing, since I haad no idea that it was a wayte set, didn't show up on the pictures. and niether did the seller, since ha had taped the front of the set, hance the tears and small rips in the card board. So I got some info about wayte from wikipedia...is he a legand of sorts? is his sets considered unique? tell me more about the lad... Will a Wayte set bring a higher value than opening it up and selling the coins one by one? There are a few coins in there that I already have... thanks

Well , the only thing I found about him (other then wiki like you saw) is that there is the cardboard holders (which do tone some coins nicely imho) and that can fetch about 30$ by itself for just the cardboard in great shape it seems .. But as for the value of the coins being effected by being in said holder it's not looking like thats the case ( from what I've found) .. seems the only thing that matters is which coins they are . And if they have some nice VAM numbers making them RARE'er ( again just my honest opinion from my lil search I did).. If you can and or what to .. try to get onto vamworld (if you havent already) and try to figure out your Vams for these .. I'm pretty curious as to what you have in there ... Maybe some single coin photos ? lol thanks again for sharing , had me curious (and well still do haha) Maybe one of the "Seasoned" collectors will chime in and let us know what they may know .. good luck on your hunts/picks \m/ phil \m/

His holders are sorta famous for causing beautiful album toning of coins stored in them.

Hi there again...back from a good ol´ swedish binge..I have to agree with the toning..some of the coins are beatuful, but would storing them in a holder like this count as "tampered with"? anyways, It seems you can buy these wayte holders empty and fill them with whatever you want..such as: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Meghrig-Way...em1e6c51ef0aOr is it Mr Raymond himself who added the coins to the set? I am totally lost in this case. At a quick glance, most of the coins are in the range of VF-XF...one or two might be AU. That said, the toning is awesome on 4 of the coins. Need to know what the Wayte Raymond holder will add to the value...despite the seller's dumb idea of taping it...

Wayte Raymond is a brand, like Dansco or Whitman. Anyone could have filled those pages. Regardless, excellent purchase on your part!

yeah, I like the buy alot, even though the seller taped onr side of the holder when sending it....oh well.
I glad I made the purchase, but no idea what to do with the coins...I'll get some daylight pics for you all in the morning. I really REALLY don't want to break the holder, but at the same time I want to...

found this website... http://www.meghrigsupplies.com/WAYT...EBOARDS.htmlsince I don't have a Meghrig logo on my board, it means the board was bount in the early 60 at the latest. Which is a fun fact. Can't tell when the coins where placed in the board though, but why buy an empty board and not fill it right away? I would like to think that the coins have been in there since 1935...I can dream, right?:P

Haha ,
Judging by some of that toning I would say they been in there for awhile :) ..
As to them being more valuable from being in the holder , again I just (in my opinon) think the big part is "what" coins you have in there .. * which variety of each date as some are rather scarce *
i would look them over , research the coins ( I suggest vamworld.com attributions 101 page there will explain alot of what to look for in your coins ... Chances are you "may" have a nice one in there and not be aware ..
I have my fingers crossed that you do ..
good luck phil

yeah, I think the set is extremely nice...too bad the seller taped it though so I had to rip the card board. One can only guess how long the coins have been enclosed for. Will try to get som close ups tomorrow for us all to enjoy.

here's some close ups of the coins... https://goccf.com/t/114737 please grade if you feel adequate of doing so. I'm a beginner so not really good at it. The card board does add s great deal of toning to the cois...good or bad? Who knows. I like a few of the tonings, but I can't break the set either to stop the toneing...so I'd rather let them be
