Just started searching rolls. Found what I believe to be RPMs but coin is usually in such poor condition that I haven't bothered to keep them. Hope to get my hands on some uncirculated rolls.

I asked if they had any half dollar rolls tonight and they only had 1. Since they only had 1 I also asked for a pres dollar roll that I could just spend. When I got home I opened up the half roll and found absolutely nothing.

It was kind of fun to see the young teller having trouble figuring out how much cash to give me. 150-10-25='s 115. She had a 120 in bills for the longest time trying to figure it out, then I kindly helped her and said that it should be 115. She used fingers and counted it at least 3 more times before counting it to give to me. Well at least now I can have a little fun by paying in pres dollars. I always get some kind of reaction by doing that.

We are new to coin collecting. My son and I started going through penny rolls over the Christmas holiday. We find about 1 wheat / 4 rolls. We average about 12 pre-1982's per roll.

Cost of a coin sorter $20
Cost of 10 rolls of pennies $5
The look on my 9 year olds face when he found a 1931 penny...priceless!

Got a couple more boxes of pennies last weekend. So far the first box produced about 14 wheaties, nothing special. 2nd box however is fun so far, not quite done. One roll had 1916D, in VG shape, same roll had a 1923. Few rolls later I got my first Indian Head, such rough shape and corroded, but it was a 1904, making that the oldest ive found to date. Was pretty fun. About 15 rolls left, 8 wheaties so far.

Good luck!

Ok... I did a preliminary search of a box of pennies and have come across 13 wheaties including a
1919 and a 1925

No Indian Heads for me...

However I have many very nice 1970 lincoln's including a
Proof 1974S in AU condition.
Also, a:
1971 AU
1973 AU
1976 AU

I do a rough search for early dates and nice quality coins, however as I dig deeper in seperating tomorrow I will post what else I come up with.

Searched $60 in nickles yesterday. Pulled 6 pre-1960 nickles and my first buffalo in months. Sad the buffalo has no date but it still went into my cull / silver collection. Purchased $80 in nickles and still have a bundle left over from earlier this week. Will see what the results are today.

You know what they say on the penny forum, "if your percentages are low- sort MORE". I have been in the valley for awhile too, trying to sort more to get some silvers but that also doubles the # of skunks. Yet I still persist- hoping to plow through these crap boxes and get down to some good ones again.

I didn't realize how popular this was going to be. I've been searching rolls since just before Christmas and have already found 6 90% silver Kennedy half dollars and over 40 40% silver halves. I've noticed that the bank wrapped rolls haven't had and silver in them. I've always found my silver in the hand wrapped rolls. Have any of you had similar experiences? I've also noticed that the small town banks give the best results. All of my silver coins have been found at these. Has anyone noticed any patters or have any tips to share?
