Not an s...optical illusion...our brains want to make recognizable patterns out of random marks...

Yup, hold off on the truck [:0] The "s" is way too small to even be a dropped letter.

Here is the link to coppercoins: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=edsWow the prices have dived on this variety. On an older publication of $300 to $40. The lower line looks like the bottom part of the S. The upper line the center line of the S.

So you think it could be one ? There's definitely something there.

Your coin has a better S than the one on the coppercoins site. Check the other die markers. That will help confirm it.

The coin is a little deceptive, but the top and bottom marks on the S are actually the bottom and the middle mark of the mint mark. The upper part isn't visible except for the EDS die examples. On the OP coin the area between the upper and lower mark is just some anomoly on the coin.

Coop....I have a question for you. Is the die crack always on the reverse with this variety or just on some ?

The die crack happened in stage "E". (The last stage listed) Die crack SE from center of shoulder turning ESE toward bust. Reverse: Die scratches at NIT on AMERICA abraded away (May still be visible next to the devices). Heavy abrasion marks at the "A" and second "T" on STATES. The previous die stages do not have the die crack on obverse.

Certainly looks like it could be a match to me. I would have to see far better images to tell for sure.
Way too many of these have popped up in all sorts of die states for this one to have a real high value. Although it's really interesting, it's not very scarce.
