I own 5 of the 6 pictured and am considering buying the 6th. mine are all certified.
However, I am torn if the one I am considering buying it is a fake or not.
if there is a fake in the pictures, which one is it and WHY ?
years are 1870 to 1872. they are all supposed to be obv 2.
thanks to all

I don't think it's fake, though surely it is harshly cleaned. Nice coins, I like B the best.

DBM,
how did you guess... you are right
Vicky just does not look right.., the nose, the hair... an Obv 2 50 cent nose does not look like that...

West Canuk, thanks for that.
I am aware of Mikes site and have actually dealt with mike for several years. But, lately he is very secretive.

Apollo,
have a hard look at F.. This AM (o430 my time in BC) I was going to buy it. I had asked the seller overseas(Europe) to send me better Images....No reply... Nothing, just ignorance.
So... unless there is a considerable change in the sellers attitude of ignorance, I am not shelling out 650.

Here are both sides next to another authentic coin..
Seller writes in his description that it is a 2/2 ie RP, which is ok , BUT he also writes the A in Regina is RP and the N and last A is RP.
I have never seen all these varieties in ONE coin together!
please compare...

DBM, 1872 had obv 2 and not 4. I know exactly what you mean.

so what about the appearance of Vicky?
the nose, the hair , etc..
if the dies were so different, they would be noted and listed as very different in Charlton (in the 50 cent issue)
I am very sure that the oprtrait of the subject coin does not match an obverse 2 50 cent portrait. the nose is completely different. So is part of the bow.
there are some date varieties listed in Zoells. it could roughly come close.
but the seller describes it as having the A/A, the N/N , S/s in (cents) and the 2/2...
I have never heard of all being on one coin...
I am NOT saying that the seller is not honest. If it is a fake, he may not be aware of it.

Coincollect:

there are some slight varieties known in the date and the date did not bother me so much as it matches with Hans Zoells designations.
