Seen something that you think is deserving of the title?

I'll get it started with the following:

From the Perth Mint: AUSTRALIA'S GOLDEN ERA OF WHEAT - COIN AND BANKNOTE PORTFOLIO

Coin and Banknote portfolio? Sounds like an investment grade package of fine notes and coins. So just what do you get for your $69.95?

• An Iconic Australian £2 Note and Threepence Coin
• Authentic Wheat Grains and 1862 Replica Wheat Token

The £2 note part sounds interesting at first and would be very iconic, but sadly something more recognisable as a two dollar note is evident in the pictures.

A replica of a Melbourne T.Stokes token complete with COPY mintmark - I wonder if you'll be able to sell these on ebay?

Can you put the bag of grains in the microwave and make whole wheat popcorn with them? After all you need something to sit back with while you're admiring the kitsch

There is of course the matching 2011 wool product

http://www.perthmint.com.au/catalog...rtfolio.aspx

What does it contain? I'm glad you asked.
- A $2 note (unlikely to be coombs - Randall though)
- 1991 Rams Head 50c
- Rams head shilling
- Exemplar of Australian Merino Wool

This is an absolute steal at $69.95

Wow! What a bargain, two coins in this one. Much better value.

I'm unsure whether the 2011 release was a case of woolly thinking, or an attempt to pull the wool over our eyes, but truly a steal with the added value of real coins!

So what happens when the RAM decide to release a "Penny" dollar? Will we get a suitably kitsch piece of kangaroo memorabilia?

Enworb - it's clearly a series, buy now, and make sure you don't miss ANY future releases!

MobOfRoos & FNQ have confused me - are we talking about steal-wool ?

I'm working on my own project for 2016 (discounts for CCF members who pre-order, of course):
a fiftieth anniversary of decimalization comemorative set,
including 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, & 20c coins, all circulated;
plus a picture of a 50-cent;
PLUS recipes for all of the animals depicted.

Thank goodness there isn't a cockatoo featured. But, everyone has probably seen the recipe before. Boil in a pot with a stone. When the stone is soft, discard the bird and eat the stone!

Getting back to "the ultimate in kitsch" you cant go past the Star Wars themed coins.

Not only do they come in a box shaped like the millennium falcon or the Darth Vader mask but the boxes make sound effects (jet take off for the millennium falcon)

http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2011/08/t...-wars-coins/

Surly a "must buy" for the serious coin collector
