I don't have anything to contribute today, but I thought I would share what I heard at McDonald's. The guy at the register next to me was waiting for his change and the cashier asks if he would like "a 50 cent piece" back in his change. It wasn't silver, but still interesting to hear. I have never seen any given out as change.

Over the past week I spent 10 golden dollars and 2 Kennedys while camping. I probably spent more but I didn't write it down.
$71,882.50 to go.
I guess people in the country don't see dollar coins and half dollars very much (if at all). One day, I was in the pool so I gave my daughter money to buy a bag of ice. The cost is $1.85 so I gave her 1 dollar coin, 1 half dollar, 1 quarter, and 1 dime. She gave the money back to me because the person at the camp store said they don't accept them. After I dried off, I went back into the camp store myself. I said I wanted a bag of ice and I laid the coins down 1 at a time and stated what they were. The girl started to object but I insisted and she finally took the coins. When there is an older person in the back they always ask this person "do we accept these?". I am beginning to think that country schools don't teach kids about money.
