Here is the 1820 Ferdinand VII 2R with the date error, as listed in Vico.

P.S. - The counterstamp is, I think, a plus.

Maybe in Australia, but Spain (and Europe and north africa - I'm not sure about Asia which may have had small lingots / balls of metal) had coins since a while ;)
Actually it's not totally right, as Spain was not united by then, and was divided in many small provinces with a few big ones (Castille, Leon, Aragon).

Here is for example a half crown (it has nothing to do with the UK crown - weight wise - it's just its name) for Sanche IV of Castille (1284-1295) :

The counterstamp on the '1280' 2 Reales is, I believe, that of Cuba (Trinidad).

Interesting piece... Transposed digit errors are known on a few Spanish/Spanish Colonial pieces. For example, I believe there are something like (7) pcs. of "1872" dated Mex 8R that were found on El Cazador wreck (error for 1782).

Very clearly transposed digit--that's really dramatic!
It makes you wonder if the mint noticed, and how many were struck.

Its a cuban recirculation countermark and its on a debased silver contemporary counterfeit Spanish 2R. I see brass or yellowish tinges coming through the silver. There are many debased hosts with this recirculation Cuban countermark. Value: $75-up.
