no problem for that one peso "Is it possible that after the countermark of Puerto Rico the coin was keep and never circulated again?" I don't think so. nice country stamp, bad chops.

Can't see the details clearly but it seems the head is facing the other direction? Could be because of the photo.

Hi Malikot! very nice 1904S you have there. it looks good. The chinese chops clearly overlaps over the Puerto Rico emblem, and it has more than one chop, which means that coin was a real great world traveler First it got minted in San Francisco USA in 1904, then traveled to the Philippines where it went circulating around, then found it's way to Puerto Rico which at that time was lacking its own circulating coins, so it got the Puerto Rico emblem stamped on it to make it it's legal currency coin, then somehow it traveled back to the Philippines, probably carried by chinese traders, where it got chopped in chinese characters to become legal tender among the chinese traders, since there are variants in the chinese language it got chopped in different chinese ways. Finally after more than 100 years, it landed in your lap, nice coin! I would bid on it if it appeared in a coin auction Over here we have lots of collectors specializing in Chopped Philippine peso coins, because there's a lot of history there...

Honestly I'm surprised you paid like $230 for it. I believe this is a modern concoction.

gxseries, the direction of the head is the same direction as of the San Juan, Puerto Rico's Logo. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo. Thanks !

The problem is that this counterstamp does not appear to be in archival reference materials and kind of just popped up out of nowhere. Combined with the fact that they are all coming from the same seller, who happens to have somewhat of a history with shady dealing, and it seems all too suspicious.

The head facing the other way could just be the indentation of the countermark at the other side of the coin. very often deformation occurs on the other side of the counterstrike, it's not bad, it just makes the coin more genuine as you can actually see the direction of how the countermarks was punched
Thanks too malikot, nice coin
