A friend has this coronet, pretty rough with edge dings and corrosion, would it grade at good, also would an acetone dip help with the corrosion or do more bad than good. What would be a fair price for this? Thanks in advance.

Well, I'd call it F details, net Fair and I don't think acetone would help, but it certainly won't hurt.

Doesn't matter how nice it is when you close your eyes and just feel that hunk of copper in your hand. Pretty nice.

Underneath all that corrosion and verdigris, I think it may have VF details but having said that, and the damage noted, I would sell a similar coin for $3-5 as a filler.

with both comments above, verdi-clean might be of more use than straight acetone, but this poor copper is too far gone with the corrosion to bring it back I'm afraid.

I like it the way it is, it's a nice old cent that's seen it's days. Sometimes when there's scratches, dents or corrosion they come out more with a clean.

I say $5.00 and a verdi care bath for this this one:) Maybe vf details but the damage does this one one in for value.
