So here is the story. My Mom passed away almost 5 years ago. When she passed my Dad gave me all the halves that they has saved up. About half were silver the rest clad with 2 Franklins. Well Dad has moved on and is seeing someone new. They bought a condo together and he is in the process of moving and cleaning out the house. He had lived there almost 40 years. Well as I am the only child the items he does not want to keep he is bringing them to me to deal with and to go through. Included in this load was Moms jewelery boxes. This is not what I expected as I thought I had all their coins. This is what I pulled out the top of the box. Now most of what I am seeing is a lot of Ike's, wheaties, and clad halves. If people are interested I can post pictures of other finds.

Nice! My folks spent my inheritance...and enjoyed every minute of it. Unless she is holding out on me...she won't say. What does the rest of the actual box look like? I like wooden boxes!

That is very cool! I would keep it intact and pass it to the next in line when the time is right. I've handed some very special items from my grandmothers to my daughters.

I would get them coins out of the wooden box ASAP. But it is always fun to look at a parents collection.

Ok, 1 last update. I finally went through the foreign coins. I found an 1893 United States Columbian Half. And 2 1944s U.S. Philippine halves (75% silver) And 2 Candian Halves, 1962 & 1963 (80% silver) The wheaties were all common dates, did fill 1 hole 1914.

Looks like a nice boost to a collection and I'm a big fan of "family" coins. Those coin from the Philippines are pretty cool
