Hey everyone.

How would you guys grade this coin? After comparing it to grade guides online, I would want to give it a AU-55, considering the full chest feathers, cotton balls and eagle's legs, together with plenty of luster left. Hard to catch on a picture with bad artificial lighing

BUT, some genius did something to the coin right below and over "in god we trust"
and the knick on the nose, is that a bag mark perhaps?

anyways, how would you grade it with, and without, the above mentioned cosmetical faults.

Thanks

I would guess that it is around AU-58. It looks close to MS. The area around "in god we trust" appears to be friction and is typically found on AU coins. I am not completely sure but the mark on the nose does appear to be a bag mark. Neither of which would probably affect the grade all that much. Looks like a nice coin!

Boy, that's a tough one. You might be right about 55, but then again, that might be harsh. Is that nick on Lady Libby's nose as bad as it looks?

For a net grade... boy that's tough. Since it's a relatively common date, it might go as low as VF I'm afraid. I'd have a hard time calling it less than EF, but I've found I tend to be generous with net grades at times.

I'm in at AU 53/55 at least enough strike detail to keep it well above EF territory. However the scuffing around the motto sure won't help this coin. So a net price of VF is probably correct, as it's a pretty common date/mintmark.
