Basebal21,
I posted the whole response I received from PCGS, so I am not sure. No mention of set labels. I looked over my one set with a 10x and I could see a pin hole in the sun in the regular proof, you could see the mirror finish in that hole. A sun spot you could say :-) I have one more set coming in Sept., but I decided to pass on the whole PCGS grading after seeing the hole in the sun and went to Silvertowne and purchased my 70 set. So now I will have 3 sets and I will know for sure I have at least one 70 set.

Im on the fence about whether or not I will send any of mine in to be graded as well after seeing the silvertowne deal. I too purchased their to make sure I got what I wanted. The premium is so small it really takes away the incentive to take the change really. Id ordered a few sets from the mint too before seeing the deal but now might cut back on the number but if theyre going to sell for more than the mint sold I may just use those to pay for my silvertowne purchase.
Since the set labels will more than likely bring some premium to the set if we cant cherry pick what to send in I am fairly sure I wont be sending any in. Too much risk not enough reward without a price increase by the time they ship

Out of the four original sets I ordered from the mint. I opened two of the single sets only to find some kind of small knick on the RP's of both sets. After being out of stock for a bit the PCGS MS70 sets showed back up on Silvertowne, which I ordered 1 or each of those, one with the signature, one with only the FS monicker. I am going to keep these two sets I just bought and the final two seal sets from the mint. Plus, with some of the PCGS's going for $350+ it looks like it is gonna be a good investment over the long run.

Quote: I would have them replaced if possible, if all they can do is give you a refund then you have to decide if the imperfections are worth keeping or not My previous comment related to the above also.... If you decide to send them back....that is your only choice. It is up to the Mint whether to replace them or refund the cash... There is no "then you have to decide" other choice in the process. They don't contact you and say "This is what we are going to do...what is your preference?" It is a crap shoot for a replacement or not....if both coins REALLY suck then send them back. If not then just keep them...the RP will so fine in the long run. ...and don't forget you have to send both coins and packaging back...no partial replacement/credit issued

Quote: Because its the 75th anniversary of the new sf mint building and was the justification for the set and the wave of S products this year Point taken. I read somewhere that the mint is on record saying that this set is not a 75th anniversary set. I think that PCGS is mis-representing what this set is. It is a 2-coin San Francisco Proof Set and nothing more.

I believe the press release the mint put out said it was not specifically a 75th anniversary set but the product page references that it is or vice versa. All in all very poor marketing/planning by the mint.

Quote: There is no "then you have to decide" other choice in the process. They don't contact you and say "This is what we are going to do...what is your preference?" No but they always give the option of replace or refund on returns. Nothing says you cant call and find out if they are actually replacing any of these or if its all just an automatic refund first. Because I do agree the RP should do fine over time and a small imperfection isn't worth getting rid of for that reason Quote: I think that PCGS is mis-representing what this set is. It is a 2-coin San Francisco Proof Set and nothing more. Like williamson said while the Mint may have that stance now at least at some point they called it the anniversary set. I believe they only stopped because they got flack for the SF mint being older and just the new building being 75. PCGS and the TPGs are kind of just calling them out on what everyone knows they wanted it to be without officially calling it that

Right now they have NGC 70's in stock. As others have said, the PCGS 70's have been in and out of stock a number of times already in the past two days.

Here's one of the RPs direct from the mint, Look at the obverse rim / edge from aprox 9-12 That's not nice...lol And it also has these light marks which I made stand out more so you could see them. But there visible with the naked eye and a bright light. The other set is ok, but this one #$@#$ the bed!! ....
