Hi, my Uncle gave me a coin that he found in his change after going to a restaurant. Below are some photos, it appears to be from 1972 (the 7 is unclear but it resembles a 7 more then any other number I think).

In this photo you can see a possible double strike, the bottom right area shows an impression of the Lincoln memorial building. Don't know if it was an impression from another penny though.

In the photo below it has a backwards imprint of the word AMERICA. Perhaps it got smashed into another penny (in the manufacturing process) which caused it to appear backwards?

Here is a blown up view of the year. I believe it should read 1972.

So any idea on the aprox value of this coin based off the photos?
Rest in Peace

It was smashed against another cent but not in the manufacturing process. It looks like two coins were pressed together possibly in a vise.

Yup! A couple of coins squished together in some manner. Neat to look at though...

Wow I would not have thought the impression would be so clear since they are both composed of copper. But the theory makes sense.

vise job....the letters are backwards...if they read normal and weren't in relief I might be scratching my head

BTW ... to the CCF.

IMHO ... this coin did not leave the US Mint as you show it here ... the incuse lettering shown in your first photo is a give-away of a post-mint creation.

Makes this coin worth the price of copper ... but a fun coin to have as an example of what folks can do in their garage.
