OKC is having it annual (news to me) Numismatic Show May 4-6 and ANACS is going to be on-site, not sure about PCGS or NGC. Has anyone submitted coins on-site at coin shows before? I would imagine that you could save on registered mail fees by submitting on-site, but has anyone done that?

It's pretty easy actually. I've submitted to all "big 3" at shows. They are there to help you with everything so don't worry, you get a copy of the submission form, watch them take your coins, pay cash, credit card, and your on your way.
Yes, you only pay for registered back to you.

I try to submit at shows when they have a special running. You don't pay outward shipping and that saves more then a buck or two with registered mail and insurance. Never had an issue and if you are lucky they will cut you a deal for larger submissions. I aim for $10 per coin and have been successful the last two times.

Has anyone noticed any significant turn around time difference (faster or slower) by submitting this way?

That's the only way I submit to them anymore, as postage and insurance would kill my margins on coins even more. I do submit a lot of coins though, usually 50-200 at a time, I see them at my local shows a few times a year. Never a problem submitting them that way. ANACS only though, I have submitted to PCGS 10 years ago at the Long Beach shows - also with no issues.

I have submitted at the FUN show and the local shows around my house. I live in the Tampa area where ICG is located. I personally have found ICG to be quite friendly and they will also grade it in front of you and give you an idea were the coin will grade at and if you should even bother, i.e., tell you if you will get a details grade etc. ICG always runs about $9/coin at a 5 coin minimum. ANACS is also quite friendly but I have had most of my experience with ICG

I submitted to NGC at a bigger show in Chicago 3 years ago. I don't think it changed the turnaround time but it was nice to have someone to get clarification on questions I had about the submission form (am I the only one that finds these to be confusing at times?). Also saved on the shipping cost to them of course. Overall it was a positive experience.
