These coins I've had in my family for a long time, the condition is unbelievable for how old they are! This is the same denomination of the coin (5 kopeks) but one is from 1793 and the other 1870 !

the 1793 is 50 grams of pure copper!! imagine people carrying 10 of these in their pockets :O

Those are really something! It's great that they've been passed down from one generation to the next. That makes the even more special.

World collectors that have coins of the 1700's well represented in their collection usually have at least one 5 kopek coin of Catherine The Great.

They are substantial and handsome coins, and that is what attracts collectors to them. They usually have a substantial, even, rich and attractive patina. Condition wise, this one is typical for the genre.

I have seen them for sale in VF at around the $30 mark.
