a bigger pciture would really help.

the scar across his cheek/neck looks like someone took a coin on it's edge and hammer the reeding into george's face.

then surely there would be evidence of that on the other side of the coin but there is not the only marking you can see is the one on his face which looks like it has been done in the striking process.
look at the lining of the neck its out of line could a hammer and a coin do that ?

im sure its some kind of brockage it would not have been in my nans collection for any other reason than that

Do you have a better picture? It could be a lamination flaw.
