http://www.ebay.com/itm/1980-D-Roos...274568395083 just saw this on e-bay, is this really a possible error or just results of an acid bath?

420 dollars for PMD? I can not see anyone being that ignorant. Do you think that this was dipped in acid or other abrasive chemical in an attempt to clean it?

If ebay seller "ajmortgagecentral2" can pass this coin off as a error, would you really want to do a home (or any other type) of mortgage with him?

Oh yes, there are people that ignorant on ebay or even worse, fraudulent.

made-up gobbledygook, there is no such thing in the numismatic lexicon

That is without a doubt a severely damaged dime and looks nothing at all like a genuine clad error such as this one missing the reverse cladding-

^ Now that is an error, and a cool one at that.

Our conman has his listed as free shipping. Tempted to make an offer of $0.10 for it to see what he says.

Without a doubt PMD. It is impossible to achieve that kind of finish on any coin at the mint. It looks like some kind of experiment with a long term acid bath.

The 2001 Dime missing the reverse clad looks like an acid job as well. The rims are melted away. They would be full if it was a missing clad coin.

Nope, the 2001D is most definitely genuine and it is part of my error collection. It is AU with substantial remaining luster and a weight of 1.9 grams, the rims are weak due to the thinness of the planchet.
