Last week went into my branch to return my coins. The bank teller enthusiastically shared his knowledge: "did you know that the 1966 round 50c has 2 bucks worth of silver in it?"

I corrected him (aka: the new guy to the branch).

The branch manager had some round 50's come in and had set them aside for me. I was in today, she said: "good news Tim, I have a special 50c for you". The new guy - who works at that branch casually, had taken the coin earlier in the day - the other teller said something and he replied: "Too bad, it's mine now".

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

Though I did get 40 bucks worth of coppers that had come in during the week ;) Hoping to find a number of 68s!!

I had the exact opposit experience today. A lovely teller at westpac called me and said someone had exchanged an old $100 note if I wanted it.

My teller is very friendly. She just loves to show me her collection while I find nothing.

I should also note, she told me that Mon afternoon/Tues morn are the best days to get "fresh supply".

I got another $500 worth of rolled $1s. I thought my luck would be better with rolled. Not really. Speaking of, I have noodled about %2,500 worth of $1s and I swear I'm getting like 20% 1984s. Large mintage?

Now we have done a full circle...
Back to the 1966 50c - which we do not find in circulation very much at all!
