I had been talking with a coworker today on the way home about some silver Canadian coins and their particular dates that apply and he seemed to take an interest in what I was saying. He asked me all kinds of questions and I was glad to answer them. He started asking me about the dates of American coins and then asked me specifically about the 50 cent piece. I told him 1969 was the last year for silver halves, and he says to me oh cool,i have a gift for you. He passes me a 1969 American half dollar! Said I can have it and that he has had it in his wallet for over a year now. Didn't mean anything to him, he just carries random things some times. I offered him a few bucks for it but he wouldn't accept it. He also took down all the years that were silver and said that he has tonnes of change at home and that he will look through it and if he find any silver I can just have it! Thought that was awesome of him. I will give him money for it for sure. So anyways, I got myself a little hook up and my first silver American half. :-)

Oh and I did check the dates of the American half when I got home and know that they go to 1970. :-)

Some people have no interest in money and prefer mutual exchanges in return instead. Treat him to a beer or two and just bond.

now that is a true friend, someone that has no interest in a hobby but if he has something of interest to you will give it to you.

Nice friend! I'm glad the coin has a good home (again).

Find out what he's interested in and keep your eyes open...you may be able to return the favor.

I believe that the American Kennedy half's have 40% silver from 65-70, currently worth about $4.26 just in silver.
