So here are my coins sets http://imgur.com/a/DoJIo#0 . Just a note these were taken for insurance purposes not for graded and such on the Internet. Sorry! The grades that are marked on the coins don't necessarily reflect the grade of the coin but my Great-Grandfather had a knack for grading quite closely. Hope you enjoy and once I get a chance to get better pictures what would be the best way to get them (camera, scanner, etc)?

Step one, get these in a lock box, you have some killer coins. Biggest problem, even enlarged, the pix are almost useless for evaluation. Photography of coins is not easy, I would prefer a scanner, with coins about 450x450 pixels. My guess, from what I can see on clearer images, is that the grading wasn't far off. If I was you, I would arrange them by year, then P (no mm), CC, D, O and S mints in that order. Open a copy of excel. If you don't have it, get the http://www.openoffice.org office program and use the spreadsheet. First column: date and mint Second: current grade Third: current price http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...ices61.shtml for MS coins, http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...icesgd.shtml for circulated Fourth: new grade once examined by an expert Fifth: new price as needed Once set up like that, you can do things like highlight the prices and instantly get a total. For Peace dollar prices, use http://www.numismedia.com/fmv/price...esfull.shtmlOnce you've done that basic stuff, you can either stop there and update your insurance, or if you want to sell, start contacting buyers. Without getting too obvious, where are you (state, major city)?

Oh yeah don't worry they're in a safety deposit box. Only reason I posted these pictures are some people were curious so I figured at least these pictures give everyone an idea. Yeah I have excel and I'll have to look at setting it up like that. More organized that how I have it now since I was getting ready to leave for school when I was figuring out what to do with the coins. For the city I'm near Cleveland, OH

I would post my spreadsheet, but I have no idea how to put a document in here without it blowing up.

If you upload to google docs, you can then specify who can access it and to what extent.

Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
You might consider buying a set of cotton gloves (chemical free), flat cinch stapler, and some new 2x2's to make sure there will be no harm done.
VERY nice selection.

Awesome set! biggfredd couldn't have explained it any better. The only thing I would suggest, is taking some of your key dates to a LCS and seeing if they agree with great grandfather's grading, only because when you get to high value coins, one grade point either way can make a huge difference. Can't wait to see your collection when you update the pictures!

Pretty awesome collection with a lot of key dates! Biggfredd offers a great idea, so you can get a fairly decent value on them. That 1885 CC blows me away! The 1893 S doesn't look to be MS-60 either. Looks circulated, like around EF-45. Very impressive 1894 and 1895 O though. I just looked over a few key dates, but the photos are too blurry to grade from and are too small. They should be good for insurance purposes though, to prove that you have them and that some are in a high grade. Unfortunately, since one point in MS can mean a huge sum (thousands of dollars) for the key dates, unless they are graded professionally and accurately, you could be way under insured.

Yeah from talking to the 2 dealers I did see about my coins they said it is possible that grading standards have gone up some; hence, why some of the grades may appear off.
bigfredd- Once I figure out my summer schedule maybe we could possibly set up a day and time where I could come down there.

Well the two coin dealers said they were all real; however, they said some had been cleaned that were highly graded so I'm suspicious of the ones they said were cleaned
