I am considering buying the 2007 four coin American Gold Eagle proof set and would like to know if the set must remain in a mint sealed box (like 2006 ASE) in order to get them certified through PCGS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Berry,

I don't think so, why would they?
I don't think they are using the first strike lingo anymore and never were for these. Is that what you are referring to?

I think he's asking if there is a "4-piece set" notation on the slabs.

I have seen NGC and PCGS 4 piece gold sets (they look nice) but I don't think they have to be in an original case. You could just send in any old assortment as far as I know.

Thanks for the response folks, you actually got both of the questions I had in mind. Does PCGS put the four coin set in a single slab and list it as an original 4 coin set and secondly, could I just pick up loose any loose coins and send them in for a single slab as an authentic 2007 4 coin American Eagle Set, or did they want the original OGP sealed or unsealed to verify as a 4 coin set. Sorry the question wasn't more precise and thanks for the thoughts.

Berry, I'm unaware of a multi-coin holder being offered at PCGS, but NGC will put them in one for you.

I suggest you do the easiest thing and that would be to go to the PCGS web site and ask them. If anyone should know about PCGS it is PCGS.

just carl

Now that makes sense just carl, until you try contacting them and do not receive an answer back.... I guess I could persevere and waste my time sending additional emails and making more phone calls, but it is not hard to get annoyed and just go to fellow forum members, where at least you can expect a quick response.
Thanks everyone for your input.
