I am beside myself with madedness and have been that way for a couple of weeks now.

I am elbattey over on ebay. I've been there for 15 years with a 100% feedback rating and feedback of over 2000. I've been on PayPal for 12 years. I've literally bought and sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of items through both and paid them thousands of dollars in fees over the years.

Recently ebay changed it's performance rating system. Until just 2 weeks ago I was not only a Power Seller but a Top Rated Seller as well.

Realize I'm old school. I sell something - receive the money, ship it out via USPS mailer purchased at Walmart, no tracking, postage paid for at the post office, email sent to buyer saying "hay it's on the way"...I didn't until recently start using their process to note that an item is shipped - I don't use them for labels, shipping, tracking, etc...as I said, I am old school. heck half the time I LOOSE money on shipping as it costs more to buy the mailer and pay USPS shipping fees as ebay allows to be asked for certain categories.

Apparently since I failed to update the shipping info as shipped and received low ratings from 4 buyers (out of a few hundred this past year) - they have decided to hold any funds received from auctions for 21 days even though I've shipped it.

This is my last straw. When I decide I need to sell something it's because I need the money to buy something else - not becauase I have the patience to wait 21 days for payment.

I know they don't care about sellers, it's only buyers they concern themselves with so the only way I can have a positive impact on their netflix/blockbuster like implosion is to refuse to purchase on ebay as well.

I'm having withdrawals but they aren't getting any more of my money! :)

Rat turds...

Ok, sorry for the rant...just not what I would consider the proper way of handling someone that's been using your services for 15 years with a 100% positive feedback rating.

Earl

I've tracked a few coin items on e-bay (never bought) and bought a few items from Amazon. While researching sellers I've run across several negative comments (more on Amazon actually for some reason) that seem to be doing nothing but giving negative feedback for no reason. People complaining that it took to long to ship, giving negative feedback for having to pay return shipping to return an item when it is Amazon's policy.

Makes me glad when something does go wrong with an item I buy, coin related or not, as long as it gets to me, is the correct item, and the seller actually responds to e-mail questions in a quick amount of time, they'll get a good review.

I hear you EarlB but what else can we do? I have been a member of ebay since 1997. There is really no incentive wheather you've been there 22 years, or 22 seconds. We are all the same in their eyes. I choose to use their services, there is really no one else with the name recognition or exposure :(

I've heard this story before; that's essentially giving PayPal a free loan--imagine how much money that amounts to over their whole user base--how do they get away with this? ebay sorely needs some real competition.

I agree with both EarlB and vermontensium. I hate using them ( ebay) and would love to stop but they control the market, and they know it. We have to play by their rules or not have a business. True, there is eCrater, here on CCF and a few other options but as much as we try to tell ourselves otherwise, we are leaving 85-90% of the market out of the mix if we don't use ebay. All you can do is try your best to ship IMMEDIATELY upon receipt of payment using the best packaging possible and pray you don't get some idiot buyer in a bad mood that is just looking for an excuse to type something negative in the feedback box. We sellers are at their mercy; not much (if anything) we can do about it.

Have you had a chance to read my thread earl? It's basically the exact same as yours.
I followed everything ebay said that I have to do, but because a buyer purchased multiple items and left me low DSR's I've lost both power and top seller status.

I'm now in the same boat as you with paypal holding my funds, even though the customer has left me positive feedback on items, paypal is still holding my funds for another 10 days.

ebay has given buyers way too much power. I'm not talking about protection(I am in agreement with a lot of what ebay does to protect buyers).
