Have you looked at trademe.co.nz? They have coins up for sale and you'll see some of those varieties come up from time to time, usually with pictures. I don't see any at the moment though.

Give it a bit. I remember looking on that site a while back and finding images for a lot of vague New Zealand varieties.

Found a good photo of the 1965 one. It apparently has a marked clefting at the warrior's right shoulder junction to the spine. The regular variety does not have this. Here's the broken back variety: and here's the regular variety:

'Broken Back' is found in 3 years of NZ One Shilling coins: 1942, 1958, 1965. This is the 1942 type, where the right-hand side of the warrior's back is incomplete and doesn't quite touch the waist of the piupiu. In 2011, the asking prices were: Shillings -- "Broken Back" Varieties: 1942 $ 18 1958 $ 25 1965 $ 15
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

Mike Jack: If you haven't already I would recommend you join the Royal Numismatic society of NZ. They have a Facebook page for members and that is where you can find out abt new and old discoveries

ah yes, austrokiwi, I have looked in to applying but will probably wait until next year.. I am really enjoying doing the research myself online at various different websites, I often spend hours researching and comparing coins. For me it is very therapeutic, as is going through my collection. I think it's funny the Royal Numismatic society of NZ has their info on Facebook, I have been on so many websites looking at coins, Facebook is the last place I thought I'd end up! please please look at this link below? I really need your help! https://goccf.com/t/153007&whichpage=2https://goccf.com/t/153007
