Here are some of my 1988 $1 errors. Some of the pics may be difficult to spot where they 'fit' on the coin, so I've tried to leave some of the other details to assist with the positioning.

However, that's not the case with the Die cracks, just check all the 'points' of the triangles in the design to see if there's a D.Ck joining the tip to the rim. All the arrows sort of around the rim are where die cracks occur, the rest are Cuds.

These are all the locations of Cuds and die Cracks.
$1-Errors

Roo's forehead + Section of left side of coin.

3 More Left sections
$1-Errors

4 slightly different Cuds above the D of Dollar

More Cuds above OLL and L
$1-Errors

Cuds in the angle above AR
$1-Errors

Die Cks on tips of triangular sections
$1-Errors

More Die Cks.
$1-Errors

I'm pretty sure I have 2 more, 1 with a Cud near the Roo's front paws, and a huge Cud on it's rump, but they're obviously in a safe place somewhere.

Nancy:

Looks like you have got yourself another USB microscope.
BTW you seem to have an exceptional talent for photomicrography!
And you are also an exceptional educator, when it comes to coin varieties.

Ta for the pictures and the new knowledge.

Well...I got two new ones. Firstly I got a Digitech QC3247 that does up to 400x magnification, cost $76 from Jaycar. Quite difficult to master and due to it's slightly larger diameter, I'd have to adapt all my little photographic assistance tools (tricks of the trade).

I wasn't 100% happy with it, but it will come in handy to get real close ups if I need them. So, off to a different Harvey Norman store and bought another Kaiser Baas, same as the one that died. Cost $70. Not all HN stock the Kaiser Baas, so I rang around to make sure they had them in stock. Happy again!

More $1 errors coming soon, lots still to do.

Hi Nancy,

Well done on identifying all of these $1 errors etc and all with terrific photos!

How do you manage to limit the light reflection from the microscope on the coin in your photos? Causing me no end of grief!

Hi Pedro, to CCF.

For all the close-ups, I use the scope as a hand-held with one edge either actually on the coin or on the surface of the table for stability, and if reflection is a problem, which it often is, I tilt the scope until the light is only at the edge of the picture, and when I crop the image, any offending light reflections are cropped.

The edges may not be in good focus, but as long as the area I'm concentrating on are in focus, that's all that matters.

That very last 'whopper' chin Cud was from a scan in 2010. I can't locate the coin right now, just temporarily lost in one of my many 'safe' places. All other images were taken with my new Kaiser Baas scope.

My favourite one is by far the star Cuds on the 2001 federation. I've got to start looking out for that one!

Here is the promised $1 Cud coin that I found over the weekend . It is the 2004 coin on the left hand side.
