Hi all, in case you all haven't realised I love polymer notes. Once a year new notes are released by the RBA (Reserve Bank of Australia). I'm glad to announce that I now have the 2011 Australian Polymer Banknote stats! Are you excited? I am! So excited that I'm ! So right now you're thinking, hurry up & give us the numbers! You'll have to wait a little longer whilst I continue blabbing. Ok, the denominations that are being produced in the 2011 series of polymer notes are: Now for the stats! (All theoretical of course) 2011 $5098,199,920 printed 999,000 first prefix - AA (1 in 98 printed) 455,999 last prefix - JC (1 in 215 printed) Likelyhood of a ?11 111111? Well only in $50 there were 80 printed, one first prefix, but no last prefix. 2011 $10042,759,960 printed 999,000 first prefix - AA (1 in 43 printed) 69,999 last prefix - EL (1 in 611 printed) Likelyhood of a ?11 111111? Well only in $100 there were 32 printed, one first prefix, but no last prefix. All I'll say is there is going to be two extremely lucky people who get the $50 AA11 111111 or $100 AA11 111111 notes. But overall there will be 112 of any prefix ?11 111111 notes in (hopefully) circulating. Would you like any? I can get them for you, but they won't be available most likely till the start to middle of September. Message me if you're interested.

Thanks Goatieman,
The question is are solid 1 notes going into circulation and will the person that receives them notice?
Would be a shame for these note to be hurt by remaining in ATM's to long.

I had a couple emails about the ?11 11111 notes last night. I probably should have clarified that I do not have any 2011 notes at this point & the likelihood of me getting ?11 111111 is near impossible.
I don't & won't have any 2011 notes till I place my order in their long winded process. (which isn't still for at least seven & a half weeks) They process orders for five weeks & then finally get them out. The issue with the process is...you get what you're given. (hence my huge doubt, Buckley's chance or near impossibility of getting a ?11 111111)
I tend to only order about 1 or 2 of each note (& generally more of the scarcer released notes; e.g this year the $100 EL11).
I spoke to Trevor Wilkins about the possibility of these a while back & he said he doesn't see why they wouldn't release them.
As for what to pay. I'll leat you know from the past. They aren't too cheap, namely based on the postage so if we did a bigger order it may bring the individual cost down for us all.
So keep watching this space.

Quote: Would you like any? I can get them for you, but they won't be available most likely till the start to middle of September. You are referring to 2011 notes in general here, not actual solid 1 notes. When you order them do you get to pick the prefix?

Hey enworb, Keep in mind that all will be luck of the draw. You don't get to pick anything, just what you get...that doesn't really make sense. I can get (all UNC): 2011 $50 AA First prefix 2011 $50 JC First prefix 2011 $50 standard 2011 $100 AA First prefix 2011 $100 EL First prefix 2011 $100 standard 2010 $20 standard 2008 $5 standard 2008 $10 standard
I've spoken to the RBA about the release & the prices I can get them out to you will be: 2011 $50's AA &/or JC - $70 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation) 2011 $100's AA &/or EL - $140 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation) 2011 $50's standard UNC - $55 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation) 2011 $100's standard UNC - $105 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation) 2010 $20's standard UNC - $55 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation) 2008 $5's standard UNC - $10 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation) 2008 $10's standard UNC - $15 posted to you (add $5 for registered w/confirmation)
The more you order the better the price will end up being. So let me know if you're interested & quantities & I'll let you know where it's at as far as price. This'll end up saving you guys the $16.50 courier charge & their credit card fees.
My opinion: I'd suggest ordering the following based on the scarcity: 1 x $50 AA 2 x $50 JC 1 x $100 AA 2 x $100 EL

I think if you find an ATM dispensing notes in the 110000+ range, the idea would be to closely monitor it, or attempt to run it out of notes

Thanks for the heads up Goatieman23.. There have been no $5 and $10 notes since 2008.. I guess thats why the price on the first / last prefix for those has skyrocketted recently.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-POLYMER-...t_1001wt_902Links to 2008 $10 Last prefix --> $150!! You gotto be jokin' I purchased mine last year for $25, had the opportunity to purchase a number of consecutive last prefixes but didn't bother because I didn't believe they were anything special. How many last prefixes were produced?

CoinManTim, Have a look at some of the completed listings for some real eye openers. $10 AA 08 -- DF 08 Serial number range 999999 - 345501 so I guess that makes it 654498 for all prefixes.

I'm interested goatieman, I'll message you a bit closer to the date. It's exciting news , but a little disappointing that only $50 and $100 were printed. as for the 11 111111 notes. Surely they won't just hand them out randomly for $70 or $140 each. They would get a huge premium if they were auctioned off. I would be interested to know the history behind the solid uncirculated notes you purchased at auction. Did the RBA originally auction them off as "special" notes? Or was someone lucky enough to receive one of these randomly as one of these annual note issues?

Prior to 2007, the RBA gave the special notes (solids, radars & repeaters from memory) to Downies to auction off. After then it was whatever goes, goes. No ifs, no buts, there were no requests of any sort. If you get in the right time then you'll get a picture perfect serial.
From the 2008 purchase from the RBA, I got a last prefix $100 EL08 620025 (if only I got some consecutives). It was a year that I thought, they've got lots printed (684,800 last prefixes) so I only got one...& what did I have...me missing out on a radar serial by one note.
I can't believe that DF08 has a bidder at that price...ridiculous.
To all of you who aren't collecting polymers...GET ON BOARD! TOOT TOOT!

The dealers now have to buy direct from the RBA, which could explain some of the reasoning behind the premium that dealers put on the notes & also could explain the catalogue/book price. Obviously we've also got to factor in the scarcity of these notes too.
I'll start a little list like what Joshtammi did a while back for the Bluebell Counterstamp. If anyone's in, let me know your numbers & I'll get something going. The more of us are in, the better pricing we'll get. I've also got to check out what credit card fee they're charging now. I know my credit card fees in the shop have skyrocketed recently from 0.72% to 0.94%... darn banks. They make too much, but they always want more. I'll have to make another call.
I'm not planning on making anything on this buying, I'm looking at covering all of our costs. Looking out for all of our best interests. So out of curiosity contact me with possible amounts & I'll get back to you with individually catered costings.

Goatie;
Say, you order 2 notes for yourself. A orders 4 notes. B orders 1 note. C orders 4 notes. And you get 11 consecutive notes. On the off chance the 7th note was 111 111, would you still send it to C in your nothing to gain venture ;)
