I'd say about F12. Reverse might be F15.

I think it would make VF-20 based on the obverse, plus the grading services often seem to assign a higher grade to key dates compared to what they give more common coins. I have one of these graded EF-40 by ICG and I think it probably is a choice VF coin that was slightly overgraded.

Certification is a good idea for the 42/41 because many deceptive counterfeits have been produced over the years. It is a valuable key date that is missing from most Mercury dime collections. A good coin to have!

I will go with F-15. I agree that certification is a good idea. It appears to have a good chance of being genuine. I think I see a notch on the base of the 4.

Nebraskacaster,

Anyway you can get a close up of the date, like Jaobler says, a lot of counterfeits out there.

As for the grade with those photos, I think its solid F-15 both side, maybe a VF-20 on a good day.

He has a high res picture at the bottom of the first post, below the pictures. Just looking at the date, to my untrained eye it looks genuine.

Here, I cut out the date portion from his high res image of the obverse and put it next to a legitimate example:
