I too would immeadiately have said Thailand (and I live here). The design of your mystery and the 25 satang is uncannily similar, okay, except for composition.

Schwedagon temple complex in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma)? The shape of the building resembles a Buddhist stupa, and only Burma used this shape in temple construction. The other Buddhist countries (Thailand/Cambodia/Java) in the region followed Indian temple layouts.

the script is thai, something 'er other "cage" is all I can get out of the translator.

searched krause from 1800-2010, as well as ebay and a couple of coin search engines for 'elephant', 'temple', and couple others...
