Hi all, reading through some of the post I've noticed some of you talking about "junk bins". I live near Windsor Ontario and was wondering where I could find a coin dealer with these bins close by. I also travel up towards Kitchener and Toronto fairly often. I'm new to the hobby and not looking to buy MS quality coins yet. Just looking to fill spots on a somewhat limited budget. Thanks everyone.

I have a local coin shop who has junk silver in boxes. his low grade morgans are 27 right now. silver quaters go for about 5.25 when spot on them is 5.15.

You just have to look everywhere you go. look in lots of pawn shops often times they have coins that they are willing to sell that are not in the store.

If you don't visit pawn shops and flea markets you are definitely missing out. I have made many wonderful discoveries at both over the years. Get out there and have some fun!

I just purchased 17 G-F Mercury dimes, an XF 1884-O Morgan, and 2 (72 & 73) 40% silver proof Ike's for $70 U.S. on Friday at one pawn shop and 9 VF-BU Franklin halves and an XF 1891-O Morgan for $120 yesterday. I have not had much luck with flea markets around here. Coins are scarce at them and when they do have them prices are 2-3 times fair market value.

I roll hunt for what I need (very addictive) start with pennies and work your way up. Start with 50 roll and look for what you need and return the rest and do it over again.

Visit any coin dealer and most of them will have bins of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.
My local dealer has pennies for 3c, nickels for 8c etc
You could find some nice ones but there are a lot of poor ones, I have from 1939 to 2012 just from roll hunting pennies

Most coin shows in southern Ontario will have dealers with junk bins...

Thanks all. Is there a site out there that advertises upcoming coin shows in southern Ontario?

Recently I have been finding only junk bins that are all in 2X2s. I like loose coins to search through.

Don't ignore anything Canadian in a junk bin. I have found three 1891 variety large cents in junk bins over the last five years. And a terrific 1907H large cent mislabelled a 1907 plain by an overly rushed dealer. Get through the usual "junk" and concentrate on series of interest you'll find in them.
