A friend found this in a drawer but doesn't remember anything about it. I told him not to clean it and I would ask around about value. I think its a ten dollar liberty head gold piece valued around 800-825 dollars but I'm just guessing. I'm sure being in a bezel would lessen the value a bit. Any help would be appreciated...

I think your value estimate is pretty close. It is a common date, ex-jewelry and has probably been cleaned already....so you are looking at around melt, maybe the slightest premium of 2-3%.

If the bezel is gold, that might add a few dollars. If so, I think it would go for $850 on ebay. Is it able to be removed from the bezel? It never hurts to weigh and measure it just to make sure it is not a counterfeit....it looks real to me.

I'd just leave it in the bezel and sell it and if you want another like it in original condition, just use the money you get and add some extra cash toward something that might appreciate numismatic-ally. < Is that a word?

I agree that it would probably will not be worth much above melt. The coin appears to still have some eye appeal and not polished like other jewelry pieces.
