That one definitely needs to disappear into the sunset. Obvious fake.

vermotensium Thanks for posting that.
I used to wonder why people would post about the fakes -- but I would go and look anyway and I am beginning to learn what to look for.
It's like everybody says: You have to look at a lot of coins. But I don't get the chance to see certain coins -- even at a coin shop, the dealer will just pull out one at a time (as he should). At shows, again, the dealers are there to sell and I am not buying much until I know more.
So it has been helpful to have the obvious fakes pointed out.

I love when the first three lines are this may or may not be real and has sentimental value, but he still wants a thousand dollars for it

Hehe, I've got two 1799s from the exact same counterfeit run in my collection. They weigh in at 20 grams and are made of nickel-steel.
"Been in [his] family since 1940" my big toe. :-)
Edit: Reported it, too. Judith's going to have fun with this one. :-)

The funny part isn't even the ridiculous price of a non-authentic coin, it's this line
"This auction is a "money back guarantee" if the item is not what you expect to be so the only risk is the shipping price."
$50 shipping. lols

I think he was hoping someone would pay his way here to deliver that coin in person.
