I thought 1907 Double Eagles the date was only in Roman numerals for that year I found this one on ebay item # 270989506637 am I mistaken

I believe the 1907 came with both style date.

I think the roman numerals were only used on the high relief versions while the arabic numerals were used for the regular lower relief versions.

Heart attack! The seller is gripping the obverse and reverse to show the side. That should be a crime. Well, at least they will have good fingerprints.

Gold doesn't really react to stuff like Silver does so you can handle them a little easier than you can other coins and not worry about it as much. I don't believe I have ever seen a 1907 St Gaudens in that condition (although I will admit I don't look at allot of them). That thing actually has seen some circulation and looks to be in XF condition

I really wonder what the seller was looking to get for this coin. I think the coin would be at least a high EF and quite possibly a AU. The unfortunate thing is someone tried to shine this coin up a bit which would make it worth around melt. Normally you would not handle the coin by the obverse or reverse but since it has been cleaned, it would probably look better eventually by doing so.
