I'm not good with Flying Eagle cent coloring. Has this Flying Eagle cent been cleaned? I wish to get it graded and would like to make sure it wont come back genuine. Please tell me your opinion on the coloring, I know the pictures are not clear but at least you should be able to tell if it has been cleaned or not. Thank you I ADDED SOME CLEAR(ER) PICTURES I HOPE YOU CAN TELL IF IT HAS BEEN CLEANED :) DO YOU THINK THIS COIN SHOULD BE SENT IN TO BE GRADED? PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK! EVEN IF IT'S ONLY A FEW WORDS!Pictures from scanner (they appear a different color) Edited by Tracelol 06/11/2012 8:12 pm

the reverse is shiny, unless that is glare. Shiny usually means cleaned.

i think that may be glare, both sides look the same and the front doesn't seem shiny

If it's a flat bed scanner, then yes. Set it at the highest DPI it supports.

High grade coin with a great strike. The obverse looks MS, I can't see the reverse good enough but AU at worse. I'll go out on a limb and say--- One vote for original

I would send it in. And put me down for AU and nothing that screams cleaned to me.

The true color is hard to determine, but it looks like it has been cleaned to me at some point, whether recently or decades ago. The pics aren't bad, but it's hard to tell if it has been cleaned. I would say AU55 details.

Of course you know there is a large letters and a small letter variety. Also, an 8/7 type. From your photos it appears yours is a large letter one. But can not tell if an 8/7. From the looks, it appears to be about an AU-50+. Now as to sending it in for grading and if it comes back cleaned, you would only be out the fee for that service. For a coin like that, yes would be worth that.

I would also say not quite 58. AU55 sounds right.
