What is up with Littleton Coin Co.? They are charging $26.95 for an UNC 2007 Silver Eagle! And they are selling the Prez Dollars for $3.50 each when you can get these at face at your bank!

I am generally pretty down on such upcharges. But, with all the hype surrounding the new dollars, if Littleton can still sell them at that price, more power to them. At least they're legitimate businesspeople, and they'll be paying tax on their earnings.

I think all their coins are overpriced. It's sad.

Heh! How do you think they stayed in business all these years?

Well seems to me you can't stay in business if you don't make money. You can't buy the Silver Eagle at the bank but you can get it at the MINT I think they are getting worse than the coin companies if you ask me.

I don't think Littleton's prices are that bad. Locally I am paying $23.00 for a UNC 2007 Silver American Eagle and $2.00 for a Presidential dollar. Coin Dealers are in business to make money and they can only charge what the market will bear.

Most dealers I assume sell for slightly above spot price. Even ebay is cheaper on Silver Eagles than Littleton.

Littleton's 07 ASE's are nicely packaged and not in plastic bags. Yes, the prices are a bit higher but, the quality is very nice also. I buy here and there from Littleton and have always been satisfied...then again, I'm careful what I buy from them and shop elsewhere for the same quality and better pricing. I've also gotten lots of nice "freebies" from them, ie: cases, coins and so forth so it all pretty much evens out. I always send back what I don't want and can pick and choose. They aren't the best prices but, they aren't the worst either. 60 years or so in business must say something about their experience, quality, service and return policies.

I was unimpressed with the quality of coins and their high prices in the first, last, and only time I dealt with them. Their idea of "Gem BU" would be more like "real world EF cleaned".

Obviously there are many people out there that have not heard of Littleton's overpriced coins and coin colleting garbage. True they stay in business due to so many people get burned by them once but with millions of fools, they can always rely on another one coming along. There have been numerous complaint threads about Littleton on numerous coin forums but there are millions of people out there that never heard of these forums. If you search all coin forums for that name you would see what others think about that company but again, this is a minority of the population.

Let the buyer beware. Look at the TV coin sales and see what they are charging. Go to your local coin store and banks and you will be able to get them much cheaper and not have to worry about the postage either.

I signed up in their American Silver Eagle program with them when I first started collecting. The prices are higher but I didn't mind paying that extra at first because they were being delivered right to me and I could look them over. The problems started with about the 3rd shipment, I started receiving coins with big dings in them. That stayed consistent for the next 3 shipments at which I canceled. The dings made me far angrier at them than the prices. I even wrote them a little letter in the comment section in the paper you send back. They even sent me a letter stating it wouldn't happen again but it did.

I'm not saying they have bad coins, I never ordered from them. It just irks me they charge so much more than a dealer or even ebay. They are selling the silver eagles for nearly double the melt value. Not a good investment in my opinion.

Over graded coins was the biggest complaint I ever had. That was years ago when I was young a naive. It's nice to know things haven't changed.

Hello Everyone, I also don't like Littleton Coin Companies prices. THEY ARE PATHETICALLY HIGH PRICED! I often order their catalogs just to laugh at their prices. They have very nice rare coins but they are priced too HIGH!!!!! Thats my opinion, Eric
