All elements are slightly bigger - denticles, CANADA and date. This could happen via a couple of different reasons, it depends how many working dies were struck from working hubs, or Die Deterioration, if the coins were struck from a single die... and so on. The lower photo also shows some elements of Machine Doubling damage, which gives the appearance of thicker devices. However, the holes in the 8 in the date do look completely different, especially the lower hole. Die wear (or hub wear) alone, could not account for that much difference.

Your examples looks circulated. Maybe a search on some uncirculated rolls from that date might be worth the effort? Maybe this thread should be moved to the varieties forum, it might get more attention from the variety folks, especially the 5-cent experts (which I am not).

I would agree with SPP-Ottawa. For the 2nd picture the raised parts of the date look fatter in the bottom picture, the tail of the 9 comes closer to the rim, the holes are different and that does look like doubling at the bottom of the 1.
