Wow... interesting. The coin itself, to me, "should" be easy enough to call out as fake. Lots of discrete pores, and the pillars side in particular has rather crude lettering. Nevertheless, the coin made it into a slab. Also, that is an authentic slab - per the PCGS cert lookup page: http://www.pcgs.com/Cert/26087277/

Yes, PCGS was made aware of it a couple of hours ago, not sure what they'll do next.

Hi yes this coin is mine - I wasn't sure if it was a fake so I had sent to pcgs for grading. Paid all this money for grading and coin and I still cant sell it. I was not trying to sell a fake coin on ebay, had it grade it first because I didn't know. How can they PCGS make a mistake like that. May I can get my fees refunded or something.

PCGS has a rather good process with regards to their authenticity guarantee. Quote: How to Use the PCGS Guarantee
If you have a coin that you feel is overgraded, misattributed, or counterfeit, call PCGS Customer Service and they will help you fill out the proper submission forms. For approximate turnaround times, please ask a PCGS Customer Service Representative. After PCGS examines your coin, if PCGS feels your coin has been overgraded, misattributed, or is counterfeit, you will be contacted by phone or email and given the current market values so you can decide which of the repayment options you wish to use. If PCGS determines that the original grade is correct, your coin will be returned to you with the original grade and you will be responsible for the regrading fee and postage charges. From their site: http://www.pcgs.com/guarantee.htmlLook at it this way - it may actually be a contemporary gold counterfeit, which is still a valuable piece to a specialized collector.

tonyyakima : the issue is the grading company which didn't do their job properly, don't take it badly :) You did what anyone would do : show your coins to trusted specialists ... I just hope you didn't got it for too much $$$ in the first place. Oh, while checking out the ebay auction (which was deleted), I noticed this other (ungraded) fake : http://www.ebay.com/itm/LIMA-PERU-E..._3554wt_1156

This one tarnished PCGS reputation. I started to trust them as # 1. In case I bought a PCGS graded coin, who is responsible? By the time somebody notice, the seller is long gone. I would like to know the outcome.

If there is an egregious error like this where a coin in a PCGS holder is an outright, easily provable fake, it seems that PCGS will work with you and take care of you... The idea is they will generally at least give you what you paid - save those receipts!!
As mentioned by Mathieu, this is a sequel to the story about the 1686 "Royal" 8R... It is what it is - shows that PCGS still needs to step up their game when it comes to World coins (especially when such an error occurs on a series like Spanish Colonial, which is obviously popular with and well-known to the U.S. market).
That's an interesting Lima 1R... older fake or quaint modern fabrication? That seller... grr, he out-cherrypicked me for something very good last year. He's on my list. GRRRR.

realeswatcher : what do you mean by Quote: That seller... grr, he out-cherrypicked me for something very good last year. He's on my list (although my english is not that bad, can't figure out 'out-cherrypicked') Just noticed the same seller has a strange 2 escudos listed as well : http://www.ebay.com/itm/GOLD-COLOMB...em27c83051d2
