another insulting listing from this outfit on the bay check out item 220990827435http://www.ebay.com/itm/22099082743....m1427.l2649 a pitted, scratched, cleaned nasty looking 1843 LSQ they call a VF20 ans ask $100 for Numismedia shows a problem free VF20 at $44 my "problem" if you will, is some newbie collector will come along and pay near $100 for this junk getting totally raped and gutted in the process. I checked out this outfits store and most of their stuff is WAY overpriced. They will just give dealers, HONEST dealers, a bad name. Go to the bay and report this item with me. Maybe the bay will do something after 100 complaints *** Edited by Staff to remove YELLING ***Edited by dsfreeworld 06/22/2012 7:57 pm

It would be helpful if you posted a hyperlink to the coin in question ... Edit ... see now that you did that.

It looks like a F-12 with a retail value of about $25-$30. The coin is genuine so not sure ebay will pull the listing. Grading is always an opinion and if he owns it he can ask any amount he wants. It is up to the buyer to research what they are buying before spending their money.

Do you want ebay telling you what you're allowed to charge? I sure as heck don't. I'll pass on the reporting. There's more important ones to report instead of wasting everyone's time on this one.

You could report it for listing a grade but thats about it. Overpriced yes, but people can list whatever they want to sell it for. Coin shops across the country consistently have overpriced coins as well

Listing is perfectly legal.

Agree, there's no trickery here, just an overgraded, overpriced coin.

I don't endorse anyone getting ripped off but sellers should be able to list for whatever price they wish. As far as a newbie getting ripped. At what point do buyers have to take some personal responsibility and research what they buy?

Also, there is a 14 day money back return policy.

Be careful what you wish for.... I sure don't want ebay sticking their nose in my grading and pricing.

I looked at his other listings. Being a collector of IHC's, he has a couple 1877's, with a very fair opening bid.

I see that you have a problem with him putting "vf" in the title, and listing, but is he actually doing anything wrong? Lots of people put things up for sale for an exaggerated price or best offer. Sure, someone might overpay, but he provides LARGE pictures of the coin you are getting, offers a 14 day return policy, and shipping is part of the purchase price.

Geez why report this? The guy has pictures, a 14-day return policy, the ability to make a lower offer, and most importantly hasn't done anything wrong. There are some auctions that should be reported, and this is not one. Are we going to sift through every coin auction on ebay and report every one where we don't agree with the grade or the asking price?
