But the question remains, should Roosevelt stay on the dime or a different portrait? What would be good for the reverse design?

I think the design looks fine just the way it is, it is my opinion that some day people will regret not getting them in a high grade now.

All the other coins have had changes and soon the cent will. Maybe the coins should be somewhat modernized.

Considering the Barber went 24 years, the Mercury 29 years, and the Roosevelt 61 years to date, a change should spark some interest.

Actually I think that all our coins need a face lift.

A change to the Roosevelt dime would be welcomed from my perspective. It's not that I don't like the current design its just that it is getting a little stale since it is the longest continuous obverse/reverse design of U.S. coins today. Though I'm not sure I'd welcome another commem program so I'd prefer a permanent new design.

I also would like to see a portrait change on the obverse and reverse of the dime. I think Roosevelt belongs on the dime, just a different pose. The reverse of the dime is boring. even if the mint changed the reverse, it would improve the appearance of the dime. The problem I see with the dime is its size. Unfortunately its such a small coin to work with.

Why not put the other Roosevelt on there and change the reverse, like a bear, old faithful, or something to do with his conservation programs.

No kidding !!! I quite agree. Let's get dead presidents off of ALL our coinage, with the possible exception of the occasional commemorative.

I think the dime definitely needs to be changed. I'd like to see a nice Liberty figure or maybe an eagle on the obverse and a flag or something on the reverse. I'd like to see something completely different than what we've been looking at.

This is slightly off-topic, but it shows just how little attention most people pay to their coins. A few years ago at work we decided to do a totally unscientific poll of random customers. We asked people to tell us who was on the dime- without checking their change. I'd say only one out of five people knew who it was. A lot of people said Teddy Roosevelt, so I guess they were half right... Most everyone knew Washington was on the quarter, and Lincoln was on the cent, and about half the people knew Jefferson was on the nickel. Guess the dime just gets ignored! Do I think the dime needs a makeover- you bet! I don't know how many people would notice though. Rachel
