I have only bought items on
ebay. Haven't delved into the selling aspect yet. However you have hit on one of my biggest peeves on
ebay. Does hniyazi deserve positive feedback for paying? Um I definitely think so. The transaction is two sided, he pays, they deliver. Done. Once he pays, his half of the contract is satisfied and complete. Feedback should be immediately provided. It bothers me to no end when sellers wait until after I leave them positive feedback before they leave me positive feedback. What are they doing, holding my positive feedback for ransom? If I gave them negative feedback because of bad service, does that mean I should get negative as well? THEIR service should have no bearing on MY feedback. Sellers have the opportunity to reply to feedback, so that should be their recourse from a negative or neutral feedback. Of course, I am venting here because I have no other recourse to do it on
ebay, so I apologize for that.
I looked at the replies in the link provided and it reminds me of my (very close) second biggest peeve on
ebay. Sellers who reply to negative feedback with SHOUTING, insults, or bitter invective, or sometimes all three.
Quote:
"What in the world is this? "though gave dimensions" REALLY?"
Really, indeed. Was that constructive? Whatever happened to common decency and being cordial when dealing with the "customer"? Do responses like this make people feel better about themselves afterward?
Ninety-nine percent of the time when I'm making a purchase on
ebay I look at the seller's feedback. Not only the score, but their replies to feedback provided, if they are not 100% positive. If I see bitter, insulting, or derogatory replies to recent feedback, I always walk away. I don't need someone like that, and they don't deserve my money. So what if it costs me a couple cents or a dollar or two to buy from someone else.
That being said, I hope we can still be friends. Nothing personal meant by it, I just hope that my response has been constructive for all those
ebay sellers out there. Remember,
ebay doesn't require proof of a college degree to sign on. Sometimes you're dealing with the lowest common denominators in society. Looking at hniyazi's response, he may not even speak English as a first language. Not that that alone makes him/her part of the lowest common denominator, but that needs to be considered before lashing out in response to them. Thank you for reading if you made it this far. I feel better. Whew!
