Check out ' coinmart62' on ebay with their pseudo 'look-alike' ICCS holders. I guess they're trying something new in order to get rid of their stock. I wish them all the luck in the world...they're going to need it. They must have a ton of inventory just sitting around. Edited by doubleeagle59 07/02/2012 3:30 pm

"Tampering with this holder invalidates this opinion"
Failing, of course, to mention the massive conflict of interest due to being both the grader and seller of the item in the first place.

I often wonder how Dave Hunt (owner) survives on E-bay with the largest inventory of Canadian coins available. He does not appear to sell many above the $100.00 range and you always see the same high end coins year after year being listed? Glenn

He doesn't even "guarantee" it to be genuine.
His holder says," In our opinion this is genuine original item."

Quote: His holder says," In our opinion this is genuine original item." same wording as ICCS... frankly it doesn't matter who's holder it is in, it is the BUYER'S opinion that matters. but like ANY TPG it is just an opinion, at least with his there isn't $8-$12 added on to the cost of the item. (no one is going to pay a TPG for a grade and slab on coins like that anyways, I dont think he is trying to fool anyone) he writes: " We now have the ability to offer Quality Raw Coins, that are usually too expensive to certify, at low prices. " i dont see a problem if it helps him sell some stock and buyers get a free opinion and free holder (you get what you pay for), ultimately buyers should grade for themselves regardless of who's holder its in. hats off to him for trying to improve the way he is presenting his stuff (its his business so who really cares in the first place) although I prefer 2x2 flips it does look a little more professional than a 2x2 with some scribble handwriting on it

sorry Wade, I disagree.
If it's not a true ICCS certed coin, then I would rather have a 2x2 from a dealer instead of one of their own 'knockoff' certed coins, as I'm buying it raw anyways, so why not purchase it like we used to back in the day....

Took a quick look through and the grading seems to be decent at least. No obvious problem coins or massive over grading with their holdered coins.
I don't like that they are copying ICCS' "guarantee". It could lead a newbie buyer to believe that Coinmart will buy their coin back at a ~retail price so long as it stays in their "slab".
I'd still prefer mine raw, in 2x2s or unsealed pvc free flips.
My 2 cents.

I lean towards Wade on this one. I have actually bought a couple of these and the grading seems fine (not that I'm any expert but I can tell the difference between an AG3 and a VF20 9 times out of 10 ). Didn't seem to be any additional cost compared to comparable raw coins I buy so I don't see any downside to it. If you don't like the holder just cut the coin out and put it in your own holder. It hasn't cost you anything.

Most grading for Coin Mart is done by Roman Tam. Roman has a good eye, and I think most of their coins are graded fairly accurately. Note that the best deals with Coin Mart are at coin shows, on the last day. The less they have to fly home with, the happier they are...

In my (albeit limited) experience they have been quite open to best offers.
